Southern Blue Gum Eucalyptus globulas

This is the most preferred species at present in plantations throughout Australia.

Although initially planted for use as woodchip material, as the plantations have got older, some of the larger trees are being used to produce both furniture and flooring material, with moderate success.

Also known as : Tasmanian bluegum

Origin : Mainly found in Victoria and Tasmania, most production in Tasmania.

Colour : Yellowish to pale brown with some pinkish tinges. If produced from plantation will carry areas of pin hole.
