Blackwood Acacia melanoxylon

Can exhibit almost black patches throughout.

Some producers grade the blackish wood out of the run and sell as Black and White blackwood.

Origin : Can be found in all the eastern states, however only produced commercially in Tasmania.Tree size is small and therefore not readily available in large section

Colour : Ranges from golden brown in the heartwood, with some reddish streaks , to very light yellow in sapwood.

Hardness : 5.9
