European Beech Fagus sylvatica

This is not always easy to distinguish.

While there are limited supplies of this species in solid flooring, there are many brands of pre-finished laminated flooring available with Beech as the surface layer.

Origin : As the name suggests, this hardwood is common throughout Europe. There are a number of Fagus species that grow in Canada and eastern Asia which are similar in appearance, these are not normally available in Australia.

Colour : Pale to reddish brown near the heart, with creamy sapwood.

Hardness : 6.4
