Bamboo is not a tree, but a very large grass, so the material from processed bamboo is not defined as timber. It is included here because recently it has been available as pre-finished flooring.
Most of the bamboo products available are made up from small pieces, laminated together to form wider strips of flooring, up to 200mm. As this product is new to the Australian market, little is known with regard to it’s performance over a long period of time. Bamboo has the reputation of being very hard, however there is no rating available.
