This species is generally quarter sawn and gum is seen as lines.
Alpine Ash is quite narrow and stable, these are not seen as a fault, rather as a feature as the red gum contrasts well with the lighter coloured wood. Very stable and minimal shrinkage after kiln drying.

Origin : Tasmania, eastern Victoria and south eastern New South Wales.
Colour : Ranges from light yellow to pale pink through to yellowish brown. Older wood tends to be at the darker end of the colour range.
